Our tour guide brought us to Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and from the moment we stepped through the gates, peace wrapped around us like a gentle embrace. This sacred Sikh shrine is known for its golden dome, serene pond, and the spirit of service that fills every corner.
We started by storing our shoes in the tourist room, and there we met a kind gentleman who greeted my five and seven year old with warmth. He encouraged them to ask questions and they ended up learning so much about this place and its traditions. It was a beautiful moment that left them smiling.
They loved covering their heads with the scarves provided, and they got really excited about walking through the shallow pool outside. I explained that we were entering a holy place and needed clean feet before we met with God. The moment their toes touched the water, their eyes lit up.
Inside we sat on the soft carpet and listened to the hymns. The gentle voices filled the air with calm and made the room feel sacred and welcoming. The silence between songs brought a deep sense of tranquillity.
We also enjoyed the sweet offerings that are shared with everyone. That simple taste felt like a small gift of kindness. The atmosphere, the quiet, the sense of shared devotion—it all felt deeply beautiful and refreshing.
My children and I loved the calm of the courtyard and gentle sparkle of the pool.
