点评:On Friday 27 December 2024, I paid a brief but memorable visit to Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle. I spent just over half an hour at the museum, photographing both the exterior and interior of the building and several of the artworks on display.
The building immediately caught my eye. The historic neoclassical palace on Blijmarkt, once a courthouse, is now crowned with its famous elliptical “cloud” extension, a floating structure clad in white‑blue tiles that look almost ethereal against the skyline. This addition brings together centuries-old architecture with a boldly modern identity and offers panoramic views over the old city.
Inside, I was treated to a diverse selection from the museum’s collection. At the time, the long-running presentation Fundatie Collection: Old and New Loves was on display, running until 31 December 2024. Among the works were pieces by Vincent van Gogh, Isaac Israëls, Piet Mondriaan, Paul Citroen, and Jan Sluijters, a mix of artists spanning different eras and styles, from classical to modern and contemporary art.
I especially appreciated the way “old and new” coexist: traditional works sit alongside more modern or experimental pieces, weaving unexpected connections. The atmosphere felt calm yet dynamic, as if the museum itself is a bridge between eras.
All in all, I would rate my experience 4 out of 5. My visit was brief but effective, and what I saw left a strong impression.
当时,长期展览“Fundatie Collection: Old and New Loves”(基金会收藏:新旧之爱)正在展出,展期至2024年12月31日。
