This is the only temple in India without Nandi in front of Lord Shiva

点评：Kapaleshwar temple is among the oldest temple which is located near Ram Kund of Nashik. This temple is around six hundred years old temple which is built in the year 1763 and later it was renovated by Peshwa Dynasty. Temple is located on top and once has to climb around 50 steps to reach to main entrance.
History Beyond this Temple:
Once Lord Shiva was by mistake killed Cow due to which he got sin of GOHATYA which is very big Sin as per Hindu mythology. To clean his Sin Lord Shiva approached the Nandi and Nando told him to go to Nashik and take a bath in Ram Kund. As pet Nandi's suggestion Lord Shiva came to Nashik and cleaned his Sin by taking a bath in Ram Kund. He also did Jap at the place where today temple is constructed. Specialty of this temple is here there is no Nandi in this temple as Nandi suggested lord Shiva to have bath here, so Shiva considered Nandi as Guru and hence Nandi is not there in this temple as gate keeper of Lord Shiva.
