点评:Went to Albert Heijn to pick up dinner, noticed a pretty dock area, lo and behold it’s a museum.
Principally dedicated to the local cultivation of Hortensia (aka Hydrangeas) and Syringia (aka lilacs), this small but delightful museum gives the local history of plant cultivation.
Unfortunately, our internet connection was too weak to scan the QR codes for the English versions of the exhibitions, but photos and tools interest g nonetheless.
The real gem here, though, is the extensive collection of old cultivars of hydrangea, lilacs, roses and more. All are beautifully cared for and clearly labelled, along with the year of (presumably) introduction. Several dated back to the late 1700s.
Our visit was mid April. Many things already blooming, many more on the verge.
An unexpected treasure, and with an AH across the street, quick and easy pre-flight dinner.
Btw, extensive free parking with plenty of spaces an available. A treat in Netherlands, believe me.
