点评:Amazing temple. One of the Panchrama kshetras and located in Draksharamam in Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh. Nearest airport is Rajahmundry. The nearby cities are Kakinada and Rajahmundry for road and train connectivity.
The historic temple is under the control of archeological survey of India and believed to be built between 892 and 922. If there is rush, go in for a Rs.50/- darshan ticket. We went on Saturday morning after 11 and there was little crowd. The temple has four gopurams in four directions. There is a Pushkarini on one side of the large compound.
You can wash your feet at the entrance. Then you walk straight into the main temple. The shiva linga is so tall that we have to climb up one floor to have the darshan of the top side. You can have darshan at the lower level and upper levels. Once you have the darshan at lower level, you walk outside and approach the stone steps on the opposite side. Once you reach the top, the roof is so low that you need to bend down while passing under the arches. There is a bridge connecting this structure to the main temple. Once you cross it, you can have the darshan of the load from the upper level. You return down in the same way you came in. Be careful when there are crowds.
There are some more deities within this main temple. Once you come out of the main temple you will find some gardens on the right hand side. Kala Bhairava temple is also found here. There is a large tree which is believed to be where Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu stay. The whole tree is surrounded by numerous naga sculptures.
