A satisfying 2.5 hrs walk from Isonokami Shrine to Nagara Station

点评：On arrival at Tenri Station, we transferred to bus 61 from Bus depot 1 at 9:13. Journey is 8 mins and we alighted at Tenri University at 9:21am. We walked for about 11 mins to Isonokami Shrine for start of trail. At this Shrine, we had a wonderful time watching the antics of the chickens especially two proud cockerels who were crowing away. The beginning of the trail is shaded with a wooden fence on one side typical of a countryside path. There are many sign posts along the way to indicate this trail. Soon we passed a local residential area followed by farm lands. We saw many plum trees plantations. There are rest stops and some toilets along the way. We also stopped at Yatogi-jinja Shrine where the main hall has a thatched roof, which is quite unusual. We also passed an honesty shop where we could buy a box of fresh strawberries for 100 Yen and popsicles. There is a fairly large toilet near to the former Takenouchi Moated Village. After that we walked towards Little+cafe to have our lunch of coffee and hot chicken and avocado sandwiches. The interior of the cafe has a stylish atmosphere with sofa seats for 4 people, table seats for 2 people, a counter, and an American vintage interior. We took away our sandwiches to eat at JR Nagara Station while waiting for our train back to JR Nara Station. This station is unmanned but there is a ticket machine. There is also a huge detailed map at the Nagara station listing 8 interesting places to visit near the vicinity of the station. So another way to experience a sample walk of the Yamanobe-no-michi trail is to arrive at this station and follow the trail shown on the map and leave by this station too. We took 2.5 hrs to walk this trail from Tenri Station to Nagara Station. We enjoyed our walk because the scenery along the trail is different and the walk is easy along flat roads or paths except for one slope.
