点评:My husband and I went in the middle of April when it was at the tail end of "smoky" season and the air quality was still bad, but not bad enough to make us sick. We were interested in doing the full loop early in the morning so we went into town the night before and hired a guide - 300 baht up front, 300 baht when we met him the next morning. We hired a guide because we wanted to do the full loop and heard the path through the forest was a little sketchy, but the guide we met there that morning didn't speak much English and definitely didn't want to take us on the "loop." He brought us walking poles, which was nice. So, what we did do - walking up and back down the fins - we could easily have done without a guide, but for 20USD I didn't mind giving someone a little early morning employment. We started out at 6:30 am and it was still quite warm. The sun was blood red through the smoke. The canyon is beautiful and in the early morning in April, we had the place to ourselves. Footing can be a little treacherous - don't walk down the fins that are collapsing. Wear shoes with good traction. Everything you wear will likely be covered in a thin layer of red dust. But all said, still worth it. Entrance is completely free - but leave a little donation at the entrance in the basket provided and keep a few baht in your pocket for the restrooms. On our way out, we picked up a bunch of trash the people from the night before had left behind.
