点评:Whilst in Nicosia, we decided to go up to the Shaclas Tower, revisiting what had previously been the long gone Debenhams restaurant which we had a meal in, around 15 years ago.
Now a viewing gallery costing €2.50, it was very disappointing to see it sparse and anything but an attraction. It clearly hasn't had much spent on its decor and not appealing as a tourist attraction in itself.
Yes, it has photos which depict the landmarks which you can see out of the 360 degree windows and yes, there is an audio visual reel playing in the darkened area posing as a cinema but as a tourist attraction, it doesn't quite measure up.
The views are brilliant but don't go to the toilet!
Situated a couple of floors below what can only be described as a well worn decrepit stairwell, you simply 'follow your nose' to find them.
The stink is reminiscent to a doorway housing some of a cities unfortunate homeless with disgusting being not too strong a word to describe these toilets. The smell lingered in my nostrils for quite some time after I left.
Was it worth 2.5 euro? The views were, but the rest of the experience justified a €5 refund.
Not sure who actually runs the attraction but they could do with increasing the price and spending the cash on properly making this a welcoming tourist attraction - after renovating the toilet facilities.
