Amazing multi-faceted adventure at Santa Vittoria Vineyard

点评：While staying in Cortona, we arranged a Truffle Hunt at a local farm/winery, Santa Vittoria, about one-half hour west. We met Mauro the owner and began our day in the wine cellar tasting some of his wonderful wine. He then proceeded to educate us with facts that, having about 50 vineyard tours in our life, were still new to us. He also introduced us to his plan to bring back some ancient grains and why. Absolutely fascinating! Having completed this portion of the visit, we moved down to the hazelnut vineyard and met lovely Aisha, our truffle-hunting hound. As we wandered around the orchard and learned many facts about what they are accomplishing at SV, Aisha would find a truffle and Mauro would dig it up. After a nice wander and more education, we returned to the kitchen and met his lovely wife. Lunch was prepared with wine pairings. I’ve got to say that after many elegant restaurants and lovely trattorias in Tuscany over the previous 2 weeks, this was the most amazing meal we could ever have hoped for. Not only does Mauro make wine, hunt truffles and run a full farm, he is an incredible Chef too! Wow, it could not have been better. We even got shown the apartments that are for rent in the vineyard and are making plans to return with friends to stay overnight! I don’t know where he finds the time.
