Disappointing Experience: Not the Care You’d Expect from a True Sanctuary

点评：I would not recommend visiting this “elephant sanctuary” if you care about animal welfare. My experience there was both heartbreaking and eye-opening. The elephants appeared to be kept in very limited spaces and were only briefly let out during the day—not to roam freely, but to be ridden by tourists.
One of the most upsetting parts was seeing these incredible animals brought to the river solely for tourist activities, like “bathing” them, treating them more as props than as animals deserving respect. Later, they were again taken out only for rides, which felt like exploitation, not the care one would expect from a true sanctuary.
This experience did not reflect what I believe a sanctuary should be. For anyone who wants to support ethical animal tourism, I recommend looking for verified, truly compassionate sanctuaries that prioritize the well-being of the elephants over profit.
