点评:Very interesting villa on ‘Golden Mile’, very well restored. Good for getting a more manageable understanding of Herculaneum in the 18th Century. Slightly odd that architecture and frescos are slightly obscured by (interesting) exhibition on Roman Food, which felt like it had been recycled from elsewhere. Garden looked neglected although urns were good. Also slightly annoying that we were told to hurry on the staircase as it was being used for a fashion shoot. But very much worth a visit as one of a selection of places that offer a more manageable insight into the area (like the Roman Villa at Oplontis). Could be better if there were better interpretation facilities or the staff made a little effort to be around to answered questions (instead of chatting to each other). Might be good to have a proper exhibition on the history of the palace. (There were some good before and after photos which could form the basis). Just needs a bit more effort and imagination. Might be a case for a cafe as limited facilities in the area. The digital guide was ok but lacked detail. Would be better if it were possible to visit more than one of the villas on the golden mile and the parking was more user friendly, for example if there was a sign.
