点评:We stayed a night in Jakarta en route to Bali. We stayed in an airport hotel and on the taxi ride to the Center of Jakarta were a little uneasy at some of the things we saw. There is obviously a lot of poverty. What I can say is.. Our first impressions were way off! The people are so friendly. So many people saying hello. You just have to glance their way as you walk past! As traffic was so heavy we decided to try the underground trains. We noticed all locals use an app which we didn’t have but 3 stage members were so friendly helping us get tickets and board the correct train. When we got to the platform, security noticed us and was holding the doors open so we could board the train. Got the train to M Bloc and had a great evening!
Our top tip from our experience is:
1- learn basic greetings in Indonesian
2- Be kind
3- Don’t be afraid to explore. You are safe.
4- If you can, have smaller notes to tip. It will be greatly appreciated.
What a city. We have another nights stay before We return to Ireland. Another point is, the people of Bali are equally as friendly. Maybe the mix of Irish friendliness and Indonesian friendliness has been making this trip so special….
