点评:Went from Jeonju to Tapsa temple by local bus on a Sunday. Schedule with Naver, but note the schedule can change depending on which time you are searching for directions. It is doable, but make sure you schedule in sufficient time to get there and back. I took a bus at 9:30 and returned in Jeonju at 16:00, but also hiked up the 'mom' peak and walked all the way to the Jinan intercity bus stop.
Started at the south parking lot and worked my way up to the north parking lot.
Tapsa can be reached from the south parking lot with a bit of mild uphill walking and has restaurants and bathrooms on the way. Going from Tapsa to the north parking does come with lots of wooden board/ stairs. At some point you can bypass this by taking the 1.5 km's curly road which if flat and easy downhill and also gives you the opportunity to hop on the shuttle bus at the first rest stop you encounter (bonus, look for the little box with a small stamp if you have paper on you).
If you walk down the 1.5 km's path you can take a small detour to 북부 전망대 which is a nice space which has view on the 2 mountain tops. And on the way back you can take another detour on the Maisan old road, which later on connects again to the 1.5 km's path down.
Tapsa temple itself, a remarkable place. Very interesting to see the stone pillars and the insides of the shrines. I was there on a Sunday and it was swamped with people. Takes away part of the fun for me. Maybe it's not as crowded on a weekday when there's not a ton of visitors/ hikers. It is relatively small, but still nice for a little trip.
You can combine it with the temple that lies close by and some hiking. The hiking is for fit people as it includes a ton of stairs and a 70 - 80 degrees slope. Shoes with good grip recommended.
