Exquisite ballet company in Tokyo!
和新国家大剧院的点评
点评：We attended the ballet, Coppelia, recently, at the New National Theatre in Shibuya. The performance and the dancers were magnificent! We have attended ballets in many countries, including Russia, and we were tremendously impressed with the entire experience on this night.
The dancers were exquisite! The costumes were excellent as were all aspects of the staging. The orchestra was perfection. We did not want the night to end.
I was very pleased and surprised at how well the patrons at this performance showed and offered their support and gratitude to the entire cast at the end of the production. There were so many curtain calls that I wished I had started counting at Curtain Call # 1 ! It is rare to see such appreciation at past performances I have attended in various cities, so this was a welcome surprise.
The building itself is extremely convenient if using the subway. You arrive at the station, go up the stairs and you are at the front door of the Theatre. We arrived on a cold, rainy night and were certainly glad we didn't have to run several blocks to arrive at the ballet. The building itself is large, spacious and can accommodate hundreds of people. There is a small gift shop at the entrance that offers items to purchase as well as a few small food items (packaged cookies, etc.).
The area outside of the performance hall itself is very well designed with many places for people to relax, sit, and enjoy food during the intermission and/or before entering the hall for the performance.
The tickets were not tremendously expensive, given the fact that you are in Japan, so we even upgraded our seats to the top category, giving us a splendid view of the dancers.
We would absolutely recommend seeing this ballet company in the New National Theatre in Shibuya.
When we are in Tokyo again, we will certainly be attending another ballet and will probably coordinate our vacation dates surrounding a performance!
