点评:I took bus 401 from the center to Avala. From the bus stop, you walk about 20 minutes to the tower. I guess I expected more from all the hype. In person, the tower looks very skinny compared to the photos. There are decent views of the surrounding countryside from the grounds of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier (about a 7-10 minute walk from the tower) so I didn't bother go up to the observation deck. I was particularly disappointed in the ethnic gift shop. Some reviews really made it sound as though there are amazing, locally made products sold there but with the exception of some wool gloves, hats, and sweaters - everything else looked touristy. The surprise highlight for me was the "Hotel Avala" that is located between the tower and the unknown soldier monument. Built in 1928, it was closed due to renovations during my visit, but the carved pillows have some intriguing artwork and can imagine how beautiful the place once looked.
