Mangrove Kayak - Buzzing

点评：I am buzzing
I loved this.
We were a family of 4, and there were several other parties, Dutch Middle aged couple, a couple of pensioners and granddaughter, solo female, family of 5 (across a triple and a double)
So all ages. And all abilities.
I’ve kayaked…3/4 times previously. On a pond or a “lake” (glorified pond)
Never sea kayaked as I was daunted by prospect of having to paddle out and back and what that would mean with tides and winds
But wow,a full three hours in the kayak.
We did a guided tour of the mangroves.
Our guide was amazing and very very knowledgeable.
Started off with a short sea paddle
For us to find our sea/kayak legs
Then off to the mangroves where it was very very sheltered and calm and wonderful
We saw:
A couple of species of crabs
Starfish galore
Cassiopeia jellyfish
Handled sea urchins
Rays,stingray and another species
We even stopped at a small beach for rum punch ( or just juice for minors and drivers) where we planted mangrove seeds as our contribution to assisting the mangroves advance
A real ecological education and an enjoyable workout too.
Tips
About a litre of water
Sunhat - wide enough to cover ears and neck
Sun top -long sleeved
Leg covers or SUNCREAM (this is the bit that caught people out…think snorkellers getting sunburnt thighs)
Your legs and bum are gonna get wet … the sea kayak is flat but has drainage holes. This does mean that it functions with water in it but can never fill up so won’t sink
So wear swimwear at least on bottom half.
And I did it in crocs. Other had sea shoes,flip flops.
They provide a watertight canister (like a big bear can or 2gallon tub which straps into the centre of kayak
For phone keys towel etc
What else…?
That’s about it.
Parking was guesswork as if often the case but we parked ok.
Life jackets provided. With pocket or pouch for camera/phone/go pro.
That’s about.
Don’t overthink it.
We booked with them rather than through travel rep
€154 for 4 Adults (49,48,19,16) for briefing,kit three hours on the water and a rum punch cocktail on a deserted Caribbean island.

接着便前往红树林区域——那里极为避风、平静又美丽。
我们看到了：
好几种螃蟹
大量的海星
卡西奥佩亚水母
还亲手触摸了海胆
还有鳐鱼。黄貂鱼以及另一种鱼类
我们甚至在一个小海滩上稍作停留，喝了朗姆酒潘趣酒（未成年人和驾驶员则只喝了果汁），还种下了红树林种子，以此为帮助红树林繁衍出一份微薄之力。
这既是一次真正的生态教育，也是一次愉快的锻炼之旅。小贴士：
约1升水
遮阳帽——宽度要足以遮住耳朵和脖子
长袖防晒衣
护腿套或防晒霜（这一点最容易让人疏忽……想想那些大腿被晒伤的潜水者吧）
你的腿和臀部肯定会湿透……海上皮划艇的船底虽平坦，但设有排水孔。这意味着船里即使有水也能正常使用，且不会因积水过多而沉没。
所以至少下半身要穿泳衣。
我自己就是穿着洞洞鞋去划的；其他人则穿了防滑鞋或人字拖。他们提供一个密封性很好的容器——类似大号罐头盒或2加仑容量的桶，可以固定在皮划艇中央，用来存放手机、钥匙、毛巾等物品。
还有别的吗……？

停车则需要靠运气来判断位置，不过我们最终还是顺利停好了车。
他们提供救生衣，上面还有用于放置相机、手机或GoPro的口袋/收纳袋。
