点评:This is situated very close to Skenfrith Castle, but is an attraction in its own right. We came here to see the grave of conductor Vernon Handley, but were surprised to see the church open, so we explored. Its an unusual church due to both its history and architecture, both closely linked. The tower is such because it would have acted as a place of refuge if the village came under attack, and at the top is a dovecote which would feed the hiding villagers if necessary. Inside are a number of intriguing features, such as the ornate tomb of John Morgan, former Steward of the Duchy of Lancaster and last Governor of the Three Castles (Skenfrith, Grosmont and White). The Morgan family pew and some of the memorials on the wall are also interesting to look at. As churches tend to be, this is a place of calm and quiet, allowing the visitor to fully appreciate the rich history and architectural beauty of this place. If you are visiting Skenfrith Castle, it is worth coming here too to appreciate the location's wider history.
