Nice Palace,But Not A Lot To See Inside

点评：The Jaisalmer Fort Palace sits on the east side of the main square inside the fort and is the former palace of the Maharajas of Jaisalmer. The Maharaja's Palace is a beautiful example of Rajasthani architecture and design. The exterior has all the intricate carvings, delicate lattice work and reliefs you’d expect from this region of India. Constructed entirely from sandstone, it has a lovely golden glow during the day. There’s the usual dual pricing for Indians and foreigners, although the entry price did include the audio guide.
The audio guide gives the usual excellent commentary you’d expect from ASI with information about the fort and the Maharajas of Jaisalmer. Too many of the best rooms were closed for renovation and the rooms open to visitors were mostly devoid of furnish, decoration and anything else that would indicate the wealth the Maharajah would’ve possessed. The only exception I could remember is the Maharajas bedroom with pretty blue tiles. Even that was decorated in a hard-to-believe level of austerity.
Overall, I thought the entrance fee was a bit expensive for what was available to see.
