点评:We visited it as a day trip from Bangalore. We got a little late start from the city, so by the time we reached the base it was almost 11 am. This place is a famous pilgrimage spot, so the devotees were thronging in numbers when we reached. Some devotees even attempted the climb without shoes while some people like us cannot even think about it without our trekking shoes.
The entire route was well laid out but was also crowded. There were resting points in between with stalls selling snacks and water. Initially the climb felt very easy with a decent incline until we reached the big idol of Shiva and Parvathy. It was from this point that the path became very steep and slippery. There was no proper trekking trail, but big boulders which one had to climb up taking the support of a dilapidated railing. The strong winds and the over-active monkeys were adding to the difficulty in this particular section. While we were half way up in this section, the drizzles turned into a heavy downpour and this section became much more treacherous. This is when we decided to turn back as this section no longer looked safe.
My advice to trekkers will be to attempt this only in the dry season and to avoid weekends.
