点评:My 9-year-old daughter and I purchased the 2-hour tour at Bretton Woods over MA February break. We registered online as the website suggested. We followed the instructions to arrive 40 minutes early. We had a 2:00 tour and arrived at 1:40. Unfortunately, it was very cold, ~10 degrees. No one was at the site to check us in, so I tried calling, and it went to vm. At 1:50, Mike showed, apologizing as the last tour went late due to an episode. I am guessing because of what transpired the tour before us, we didn't leave until 2:35 (the tour at 2:15 left before ours). As we were going along the trail, Mike would stop ~ every 10 minutes or so to ensure we were still behind him. Unfortunately, the woman at the end of our line (there were 5 sleds with Mike) fell behind. We were traveling about 15 mph. We were instructed to hold our arms up high with a clenched fist to indicate we needed help. Mike stopped, and about 10 minutes later the woman caught up. Her partner was at the front of the line. A little way later, about 45 minutes into the tour, I noticed the woman was again not behind us. I put my arm up and Mike stopped. It takes a few minutes as each time, Mike has to be looking back to catch if anyone has their arm up. It is very loud, where you can't hear the person riding with you never mind be able to yell ahead. We waited a few minutes, but the woman didn't show. Mike advised us to stay put as he went back to get her. About 15 minutes later, he arrived with her on his sled. He had to call for another guide to come to direct us, as he was gong to take this woman back in. We heard she may have broken her wrist. The other tour guide shows up; he's at the front of the line, and we can see Mike waving us on to follow this guy. He's going about 20 mph. Now, I am last in line with my daughter. It is now closer to 4, about 3:55 (we should have been in by now if we were on time). My daughter says to me, "Mom, I have to pee." I yelled back to her, "Ten minutes", and motioned 10 minutes with my hands. I was 'assuming' this tour guide would follow suit and check back/stop every 10 minutes or so. Ten minutes pass, and he keeps going. I tell my daughter again, 10 minutes. The guide keeps going. To be honest, I didn't know if we were going back to the shed or if he was taking us for the rest of the tour to the second mountain. About 4:15 I put my hand up. I am hoping he just looks back. He never does-4:30, my arm is still up. I am screaming for someone to look back. Really, I can't believe they don't have 2 guides, one in the front and one in the back. Anyway, it is 4:35 and I look back and my 9-year is in tears because she has to go so badly. I was afraid to stop, because this guy hadn't seen us 'yet', and we didn't know where we were. I almost told her to go in her pants, but I had no idea how long that meant she was going to be sitting in wet clothes. Again, it was extremely cold and we were already out there later than we should have been. I made the decision to stop. I had her undressed and dressed within 3 minutes. I know this, because there are clocks on the sleds. The tour keeps going, because you guessed it-he never looked back. We start, I am trying to catch up. This is the first time on the sled for me, which they knew. Most of us had no experience. Even though I caught on fast, the sun was setting, the snow was gleaming, other snowmobilers were passing us on the opposite side. And I didn't know where I was going. I finally stop about 10 minutes later, because for all I knew I could have been going in the opposite direction. I call (truthfully, I was extremely angry at this point!). I was put on hold, I waited for 45 seconds, called back, asked to hold, and I yelled that I can't hold, that the tour guide stranded us out here, and I don't know where we are! I told them a landmark I was by, and the same tour guide came within 5 minutes. We got back, and I leaned into him. He yelled back at me, "Did you not know what happened. That lady broke her wrist!" I said that is what I heard, AT THE SAME TIME YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LOOKING BACK TO ENSURE YOUR GROUP IS STILL WITH YOU! He then said, "Well, you just 'decided' to stop!". Yeah, I assured him I didn't 'JUST DECIDE' to stop. I told him to do his job!!! And yes, I was swearing at this point. I tried to report the incident that day, and the manager called me back two days later. There was no incident report filed. He said he would talk with Mike to get his name. He apologized, but said there is a protocol in place for when there is an incident on the mountain, that the guides don't necessarily stand up and stop to look back, that they look in their mirrors and count the headlamps. So of course, I responded with, "Well, then if he actually did 'that', he would have counted one less headlamp." I proceeded to tell the manager (Scott,?) that this was absolutely negligent. What if I tossed my sled like the last lady? Luckily, we were just lost but abandoned by this irresponsible guide. I guess the woman's partner was with our group vs. going back with Mike (the woman was on his sled). Again, adversity happens, but you have to be clear with the plan, you should STILL be checking to see if your entire party is still with you- at the very least. Anyone exploring this tour should ensure there are 2 guides, one in the front and one in the back. Ask how often they stop and get a commitment, that is what will happen.
