Incredible! Way better than we ever could’ve expected!

点评：This is an incredible experience that we were not expecting and we can’t wait to go again. My family and I took the Tupper Lake to Thendara w/ layover trip and we were shocked how great of a day trip it was. The one we went on was one of the first destination trips out of Tupper Lake (we are from nearby Saranac Lake) so when we heard, we figured we had to give it a try. We weren’t sure what to expect because we remembered the old Saranac Lake to Lake Placid scenic railroad, which I’ll be honest, was never that great for many reasons…. But Tupper Lake to Thendara (Old Forge) was incredibly scenic and worthwhile.. There was even a Moose in the bog at one point!! Just the remote wilderness areas this railway runs through is incredible and unlike anything I’ve seen before
Once in Thendara the free shuttle brought us to downtown Old Forge where we were able to find a restaurant for lunch and check out some of the local stores. Then the shuttle brought us back for the 4:30pm departure back to Tupper Lake.
At $49 per ticket, I can only imagine it cost the railroad more in fuel to get us to Old Forge and back. Very fair pricing for the amount of fun we had. The staff was also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable as well. I cannot recommend this experience enough. It really gave me a new found appreciation for the railroad. I hope these rails and railway service stay here for decades to come. Happy to finally see routes out of Tupper Lake
