点评:I have been going to gigs here since the 80's. The Barrowlands is still viewed by some as the best venue in Glasgow, however the now gone ABC was simply a much better venue. People coming from the East of Scotland should know to get off the train at High Street station, where its only a few mins walk from the station. The downside of the Barras is its location, which makes it a risky walk both to and from the venue. Its also quite old and hasnt been refurbished, its definitely of its time. When sold out shows can feel quite claustrophobic, especially in the summer. But there is a good atmopshere in most cases. There is also an unwritten rule that nobody really shows up until 9pm which is usually just before the main band is on stage. There is a sizable cloakroom and huge toilet area downstairs next to the merch stall. Staff are friendly, in some cases a bit too familiar. There is a large bar on the left of the dancefloor with a smaller stand selling soft drinks. Like many venues they use plastic cups and I avoid drinks because of concerns about whether these are reused cups and how clean they are. Also watch out for the fact its a sunken dancefloor, many have fallen foul of not noticing this and fell or twisted an ankle. If you need a break from standing there are a limited number of seats on the stairs and near the entrance. Their social media could be better updated as they dont always post set times.
