点评:We walked the Caminito del Rey early in the morning – and wow, what a breathtaking experience! The path itself is stunning, with jaw-dropping views and cool temperatures if you book the first morning slot (which we highly recommend!).
But the real surprise came after the hike.
To escape the growing crowds around the Visitors Centre in Ardales and El Chorro, we headed back from the Visitors Centre in Ardales towards the Kiosko Restaurant and crossed the historic dam – an incredible feat of engineering in its own right. Curiosity took over, and we kept driving... and we’re so glad we did!
As we passed out of the tourist-heavy zone and into Campillos, we were completely blown away by the scenery. The meeting point of the three reservoirs is simply spectacular – calm, serene, and photo-worthy at every turn. The road led us to a little-known spot called La Bahía on what looks like a back road to Valle de Abdalajís, and this was the cherry on top of our day.
La Bahía is an absolute hidden gem: free parking, shaded picnic areas, and crystal-clear waters perfect for a refreshing dip or, in our case, a fun hour on a pedalo (20 euros, rented from a lovely local man named Benito). It was the perfect post-hike chill spot, just 4 minutes drive beyond the Kiosko but a world away from the tourist buzz.
If you're doing the Caminito, do yourself a favour and take this detour. Peaceful, scenic, and authentic – La Bahía was the unexpected highlight of our day.
