Green Island Gardens的点评
点评：Visited here early March, it's a wonderful wildlife friendly garden and woodland. Easy to find, only 5 miles from Colchester and 1 hour from my home town in Norfolk. There’s plenty to enjoy in the varied 20 acres which shows the enthusiasm of the owner Fiona Edmond. Lots of variety with large island beds, water gardens, seaside garden, Japanese garden. There were many stunning early flowers including the impressive Camellia, of which they have around 120 in their National Collection. Other plants in flower Epimedium, Stachyurus, Helleborus, Fritillaria, Lysichiton (Skunk Cabbage). And also one of my favourite conifers, not in leaf yet the magnificent deciduous Metasequoia glyptostroboides looking particularly impressive. In the lovely water garden area Gunnera leaves were just starting to show. There's also a small plant nursery of sensibly priced home grown plants which were well looked after. And a tea room where we ate a lovely freshly prepared lunch. It's a great place to visit, it's peaceful with plenty to ponder and appreciate. Looking forward to visiting again later in the year.
