点评：This museum is a landmark to park or else stroll and enjoy the best seaside view, outside of Ponta da Piedade, Largos. Open from late morning (10:39-5:30), it offers lockers for bags and a contextual understanding of Patrimonio em Albufeira: Guia, Ferreiras, Paderne, Olhos de agua.
Stop 3 of the green tourist train takes you to the Municipal Archaeology Museum here, beside Casa del Mar restaurant or Hotel Sol & Mar for a view of the churches/ clocktower as well as the Atlantic at its finest. Roman arula altar and capitel 6th c. church and “castle by the sea” ruins (visible outside via plexiglass) not included but available for a low $3 fee. Rua da Bateria above Nova and Portas da Villas dAntiqua leads down the stairs to Porta Santa D’Ana and Restaurant A Ruina, besides seaside restaurants, where a medieval fish market was located. In 1249 King Afonso III took the scene with a crisis of 1383-85 before King Manuel in 1504
ordered a 16th c. Gothic church to replace the Moorish site (Al-Buhaira/fort Al-Buhera) from the late 11th c. If you drive and have time, on a Wednesday (10:30-4:00), check out Paderne castle though it’s undergoing restoration. St Sebastian church has a sacred art museum and bell within steps of this museum; and take the Tunnel below Blue Bell Bar’s Travessa da Igreja Matriz or Rua dos Sinos to see the old town of Albufeira in all its glory!
