Horseback Riding Adventure – The best thing to do in Matapalo

点评：What a great time we had horseback riding! If you’re planning a trip to the Osa Peninsula, Rancho Tropical’s horseback riding tour absolutely deserves the #1 spot on your bucket list. This was one of the most memorable experiences of our entire Costa Rica vacation. It was a perfect mix of nature, freedom, and connection with farm animals so well cared for.
From the moment we arrived, we could feel how much love and respect they have for their horses. They roam freely across a huge, lush property surrounded by mountains, rivers and the ocean. The horses are calm, gentle, happy and perfectly matched to every rider’s experience level, which made even beginners feel confident and safe.
Our guide Carlos was the heart of the experience, a real Costa Rican cowboy with a big smile, endless stories, and an incredible eye for wildlife. Along the trail, he pointed out monkeys, coatis, scarlet macaws, and even a sloth tucked high in the canopy. The absolute highlight was galloping along the beach, it felt straight out of a dream. It’s one of those rare travel moments you never forget. I feel like this tour captures the magic of the Osa Peninsula: wild nature, warm hospitality, and unforgettable memories. Rancho Tropical truly embodies responsible tourism and the authentic Costa Rican spirit.
