Once a wonderful place to visit...

点评：This is a fantastic example of one of those Victorian parks with plentiful greenery and plantings, delightful water-features, a large lake, attractive wildlife and many and varied thoughtful amenities.
On a pleasant afternoon you will see parents with their kids having a picnic, or playing in the well-equipped play area, or maybe just kicking a ball around. Sprightly pensioners have plenty of winding paths to mooch their pooches, and ornithologists of varying levels seem to gain pleasure watching and photographing the resident swans, geese, ducks, moorhens, not to forget the seagulls!
Of course there is crazy golf, a friendly cafe selling refreshing drinks, hot and cold food and delicious ice-creams and cakes, and an historic astronomical observatory which is open to the public frequently.
Regular visitors find the whole park a delight and return time after time.
Sadly, though, of late, a new species has appeared to disturb the gentle relaxed atmosphere. At weekends and during the school holidays, youths on mountain bikes now hurtle around with no care or consideration for other visitors. Not content with scaring guests on the paths, they have decided to turn the park into their own off-road rally centre, and can often be seen armed with shovels and other implements to enable them to construct pits and dirt jumps between the trees and ornamental shrubs.
I hope something can be done to prevent the decline of this wonderful local treasure.
