点评：The Bale mountains are a bucket list experience for anyone interested in geology, birds, mammals, plants, rivers, crazy weather. It's a long drive from Shashamene and Hawasa (closest airport), but every hour is worth it. The drive to Robe itself is an extended immersion in rural Ethiopia life, with more goats and cows than cars on the road in most places. Bale National Park contains 5 life zones within it's borders - one morning in a combination of driving and hiking, we went from the shrubland of Robe, through Juniper/Heath forest, subalpine shrubland covered with red hot pokers and giant lobelia, to AfroAlpine paramo, and finally to 11,000 feet alpine environment. And then, in the afternoon, we descended into the tropical Harenna rain forest. We spent 2 nights in Robe, which made the roads and distance tolerable. Don't pass up the chance to see this jewel national park.
