Not pretty in pink, but pretty nonetheless

点评：Of course there is the disappointment of expecting a purely pink beach and finding nothing of the kind. There are “real” pink or red beaches in this world. This is not one of them. The draw here is the remoteness and underdevelopment of the tourist infrastructure, which gives travelers a chance to experience Indonesia as it was 30 years ago, when I first visited. Not overcrowded, plenty of beautifully light sand to stretch out on, nice safe swimming, and a few stands for refreshments. As a bonus, you can add a little color to your pictures in post-production and show the pink sand at its best. The sand is more truly pink at dusk and dawn, I have read. Get a snorkel package in Kuta town, or for a real adventure, ride your scooter here and see a lot more of the country than you do in your sealed tourist bubble. It is exactly an hour and a half. Download the Pantai Pink map on Google or Applemaps for best results. They are at this time, pretty accurate. The roads are very good, with only three very short rough patches.
