Veterans Park with Class
Punta Gorda History Park的点评
点评：On Saturday, September 14, 2024, we were in Punta Gorda, Florida, for several points of interest. We started with Veterans Park. This park contains a scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, “The Wall.” There are several other presentations in the park including a Purple Heart presentation, and a Fountain of Freedom as well as a beautiful mural of a Curtiss P-40 Warhawk. Well worth the stop. Parking is free and ample. Plan on a 45 minutes to an hour.
Our second stop was the Military Heritage Museum. This was another super visit. Our Garmin GPS and Google Maps had a bit of a time getting us to the entrance for free parking. The Military Heritage Museum covers A LOT OF EVENTS in our Country’s history. Most of the docents were absolutely super. You need to check their homepage. Their building’s ownership has changed and they are in limbo for remaining at their current location. Plan on several hours.
Our last stop was Fishermen’s Village. First, we saw no one fishing so….. Just curious. A tourist trap, and nicely done. Parking is free and a bit limited. The area is clean, neat, well kept up, and “light” in its presentation. We cruised through several stores and enjoyed just cruising around. We were kind of surprised as we walked away with a few purchases. A few stores were in rehab and closed. However, most were open. There are a few eating spots there and individuals who appeared to be locals said they were super spots to eat. We did not partake. There were tour boats you could book a ride on. We did not see a ticket booth or window – we did not look them either.
We were on the road for these tours about eight hours total and then joined our Daughter and Son-in-Law for the rest of the day.
