This company is an absolute disgrace. My friend and I booked a large camper van through Indie Campers for a road trip from Cairns to Melbourne. It was supposed to have two double beds, a bathroom, and a kitchen—perfect for our trip. But when we arrived, they pulled the first con. They told us they didn’t have the van we booked and forced us to take a 4WD ute with a rooftop tent instead. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! A tiny ute with a tent doesn’t even come CLOSE to what we paid for.
This downgrade completely ruined our trip. No space, no comfort, no bathroom, no kitchen—just a cramped and miserable experience. We couldn’t even complete the trip as planned because it was so unbearable. We had to cut the trip short and come home early from Brisbane. What should have been an amazing experience turned into an absolute nightmare thanks to Indie Campers.
To make matters worse, this company has ZERO communication. They refuse to talk to you on the phone, dodge questions, and avoid giving straight answers at all costs. If you try to get clarity or even discuss your concerns, you’ll be met with vague emails or total silence. It’s beyond frustrating and downright unprofessional.
And just when we thought it was over, two weeks after returning the vehicle, they have the audacity to try and charge us over $4,000 for a tiny dent! A DENT TWO WEEKS after we handed back the car, they suddenly “discover” damage? This is beyond shady—this is a blatant money-grab. There’s no way to prove when or how that dent happened, and it reeks of a scam.
Indie Campers is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. They don’t honour bookings, they lie to your face, they give you inferior vehicles, and then they have the nerve to try and rip you off even more after the fact.
DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE SCAMMERS. They will ruin your trip, take your money, refuse to communicate, and then try to take even more. I wouldn’t trust Indie Campers with a bike, let alone a camper van. Stay far, FAR away!
