点评：I was at Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary from 20th to 22nd Mar 2024 and had a great sighting /of Archi tigress.
Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary (TWS) has been having great sightings for the last few years with the credit going to Talabwaali tigress and its partner Star male tiger.The lineage at TWS has been built by this legendary couple. Star male tiger has notbeen seen for a couple of years. But the good work done by him has resulted in TWS reporting over 25 tigers.
As on 31st Mar 2024, male tiger Zhanjir, who is about 9 years old, is ruling over the TWS. Zhanjir is a shy tiger and will avoid walking close to the jeeps. He also demonstrates aggression and is known to charge at the jeep on a couple of occasions. The tourist area of the TWS has three tigresses with cubs sired by Zhanjir.
It takes about 45 mins through the forest tracks to reach Mathani gate from the Sunna gate. And vice versa.
A tigress named 4-mark (because of the figure 4 on her face) has two cubs (aged about 4 months old) stays close to the Sunna gate of the forest. The tigress with her cubs are being seen regularly. 4-mark female is about 8 years old and from an earlier litter by the legendary Talabwaali tigress.
The legendary tigress Talabwaali (also numbered as T2) is sighted almost daily with her 3 cubs aged about 6 months old. This tigress is sighted in area next a big lake and hence her name Talabwaali. Tigress Daisy (aged about 2.5 years) from her previous litter is also seen with the 3 cubs which is also an uncommon behavior by a tiger. The area of sighting of this tiger family is almost midway between the Sunna gate and Mathani gate.
Tigress Archi with 4 cubs (aged about 5 months) is seen closer to the Mathani gate. Tigress Archi is known for her “Head on” sightings. And the cubs gets sighted 3 to 4 times a week. It is a wonderful sight to see the cubs playing with each other. And this family of tigers are known to bless the tourists with long sightings whenever it happens.
The cubs at TWS are aged 4 to 6 months. They will be with their respective mother tigress for another year or so. The sightings at TWS will be great not only in the summer of 2024 but also in the summer of 2025 (when the cubs will be around 18 months old). Of course it is a huge challenge for the tigress to ensure safety of the cubs from other predators like Leopard / Wild Dogs / Jackal and also from other tigers. APRIL 2024 TO TO JUNE 2024 IS A GREAT TIME TO VISIT TIPESHWAR. Extremely lucky tourists have seen 12 tigers in one safari.
