点评:I visited the gufa on a Saturday. The hostel I stayed in rishikesh had arranged a taxi. It was expensive (2200/-) for a half an hour drive up to the caves, waiting, and back to Rishikesh. They said on weekdays they charge 1800/-.
The cave is big enough for around ten people to sit and meditate. There's a raised platform at the far end, on which there's an idol of sage Vasishta and a lamp. Water dripping from the top gets collected in a small container near the idol. On the floor of the cave there are a few thin cushions placed close to the walls of the cave, for people to sit and meditate. Sit there for a few minutes and you feel a quiet presence or energy slowly seeping down on you.
The banks of Ganga flowing outside the caves is equally quiet and peaceful.
Go there as early as possible to enjoy the serenity - the place opens at 8 am.
Avoid weekends. By around 11 am the place was thronging with tourists.
On the way back to Rishikesh, the taxi driver stopped at a point where ganga has a beach, like Goa. Very fine sand and beautiful.
