点评:We came here during our Danube River cruise. Though its timings are 10 to 6 in July, but when we reached here at 10 PM, it was open. May be specially for our cruise group. It looked marvelous in the night, fully lighted.
It was built in early 14th century on a steep cliff above the Djerdap Gorge and it has got a long history behind it. It has got ten towers and a palace in three compounds surrounded by thick walls. There were many ancient arms, artefacts and dresses inside which were worth watching. Our guide briefly told us about all these things in the museum. Afterwards we were given some free time to explore on our own, but we avoided it as there were steep steps to go on top. Those who went up liked the view immensely.
It is one of the most well preserved fortress in Europe. Worth seeing.
