A day in the area of Ziway lake

点评：During my journey to Madagascar in July, I had a layover in Addis Ababa International Airport.
To make the most of my travel convenience, I opted to stay two nights upon arrival and one night before departure in Addis Ababa. I lodged at The Stay Easy Plus Hotel during my stay, where I found the accommodations to be very clean and comfortable. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fruits I ordered through room service; they were refreshingly tasty, not overly sweet.
However, the processes at Addis Ababa International Airport were poorly organized, which left a negative impression. I hope for improvements in the future.
One of the highlights of my visit was the city tour, where I had the opportunity to see the preserved Lucy skeleton, a truly memorable experience. I also ventured to Debrelibanos to observe gelada baboons. Despite its proximity to Addis Ababa, the journey was marred by heavy traffic, resulting in a drive that took over four hours one way.
Regarding the local tour guide I hired, there were some ups and downs. Initially, the guide didn't provide a clear tour plan until we met in person. After discussing my interests, we outlined the sights I would visit and agreed upon a price. Towards the end of my trip, the guide improved and presented a clearer itinerary. One day was spent exploring the area around Ziway Lake, where, unfortunately, we didn't spot any hippos due to the guide mentioning they had moved away because of the cold weather. Despite this, I did enjoy observing a variety of birds.
The guide did demonstrate good knowledge of the area, although there were instances where additional charges were proposed for visits to nearby locations, which I declined. Overall, while knowledgeable about the destinations, the guide's execution of tours could benefit from more experience and clearer communication.
