Drive thru interesting, limited zoo
Branson's Promised Land Zoo的点评
点评:This is less of a traditional zoo and more of a hands on feeding experience for a subset of animals. You can feed parakeets for free with a stick that they provide you. Beware they will land on you. Inside the walking zoo you can also feed goats and other farm animals. A bag of feed is $5 or $10.
Except for those leading personal tours I didn’t see any zookeepers/animal handlers. The large animals (e.g. lion, tiger, etc.) are kept in very small holding areas that only have a double chicken wire fence between you and the animals.
The walking zoo can be done in less than than an hour. The trail is very steep and the pavement is uneven. I saw a man really struggling to push a wheelchair around. Very limited food options (ice cream and pre-packaged foods). The women’s bathroom at the petting zoo was closed for repair with no other options to wash your hands or the facilities in that portion of the zoo.
For us the driving zoo was the best part for the kids. This will take about an hour depending on how long you (and the cars in front of you) stop and if you go to the petting zoo (get out of car) at the end of the trail. You have to get to spot #3 on the map before you can start feeding. The animals come right up to the car and may not move until they are ready. If you are precious about your vehicle or a nervous driver this might not be for you. We saw some cars had animals with heads inside the vehicle but we didn’t have this issue as long as we kept our hand with the feed outside the window and rolled it up when we were done feeding.
Overall there are better animal experiences and zoos. The animals didn’t feel properly cared for in comparison to other zoos and general admission didn’t provide much animal education (limited signs), no free staff interactions. The drive thru was a more unique experience.
