点评：During our visit to Tiruvannamalai, we visited Arunachaleshwar temple in the morning, then went to Ram Suratkumar Ashram which is located at Ramana Nagar. You can hire Auto to visit the same as it is inside the city and no public transport is available till Ashram.
Ram Suratkumar yogi, a great saint lived from 1st December 1918 to 20th February 2001. Ramsurat Kumar was born into a devout religious family. His birthplace in Bihar was a village close to the sacred river Ganges. At 12 years age, Ramsurat Kunwar had his initial spiritual awakening. at about 16 years of age, moved by an intense impulse to search for God. In his Quest for a Guru, he travelled to South India where he met his three Gurus Sri Aurobindo, Ramana Maharshi and Papa Ramdas.
He lived as a beggar on the streets of Tiruvannamalai. When he first moved to Tiruvannamalai, he leaved at the big temple in town and later on at a house in the same area. But when people came to know about Yogi, large crowd starter gather at the house waiting for his darshan. The devotees grew steadily in size eventually creating the need for an ashram. In 1993 Swamiji acceded to the acquisition of land, enabled by contributions.
This Prominent Ashram comprises of several building of which the most prominent structure is the Pradhan Mandir, which is a meditation hall where up to 4000 devotees can come together and chat mantras. A metal statue of the great Yogi Ramsurat Kumar had been installed by him is present in this hall. Maha Samadhi shrine is situated on the Southern side where the physical body of the master has been interred. A Shivalinga specially bought from Varanasi with Vedic chanting's stands installed over the Maha samadhi.
There is one more Old Darshan Mandir which was the first building to be constructed in this Ashram. It was devotees of Yogi Surat Kumar received Darshan of him.
