Whitley Bay - good for a day trip

点评：Whitley Bay boasts a lovely beach, pleasant promonade walk, and scenic views across the bay and of St Mary's Lighthouse. There is a cinema, a Sainsbury's and Morrisons supermarkets and even the much converted B&M. There is a Theatre but I did not go there. It's clean and tidy and parking all day (that's transferable) only cost £3.50. Other than that it's pretty dead. People talk about Spanish City - its pretty to look at, but other than that it's just a couple of cafés and resteraunt. There are a couple of arcades but nothing special. If you want fish and chips there are only a couple to chose from close to the beach and you need a mortgage to go there with fish and chips costing £16. I took the family to the Trenchers Fish & Chip shop with the seven meals coming to a smidge under £100. The portions weren't massive and were mediocre. Definitely not worth the hype and price. I found one gift shop/ beach shop that was sparse and it cost £6 for one fridge magnet. I could not find any funfair, so I don't think there is ine. Would I go again to Whitley Bay, probably not.
