点评:We arrived at Ghent Central Train station. Had to wait for a bus to take us to city centre. It’s an easy 50-60 mins walk if you walk from the train station. No idea why would the Government built a city centre so far from the railway station. The cost to get there is also very expensive by bus one way. It’s cheap for locals as they earn in local currency. The entire station was under construction. The city center had no wow factor either. We walked to the Main Street where all the restaurants, cafes and bars are located, there was apparently preparation for some rock festival happening over the weekend so the entire area was cornered off and too many people. It was quite chaotic . Asked people around for guidance or where to eat, not at all helpful. The locals seemed racist. It’s a university town, lots of young crowd. It’s got historical buildings but nothing great. Worst city we visited in our entire European trip. No guidance at all we had to walk back for 25 mins and reached another station one station after Ghent Central and it was indeed a nightmare. No one to help, no one to guide and no one knew where the main station was, this is Ghent for you in a nutshell. Avoid this city by all means.
