A fabulous May spectacle and no doubt a joy any time of the year.

点评：We picked such a perfect day to visit. The fabulous contrast of a clear blue sky with bright white whispy clouds were the perfect backdrop to the cornucopia of flowering shrubs. The grounds are very beautifully laid out. The contrast of leaf shape colour and texture, tree or bush shape, size and leaf colour, meandering streams from a pair if ponds cascading down from one to another. Water plants act as a haven for the wildlife to flourish.
Best of all — the vast abundance of flowers across the site in the most sumptuous colours and sizes; Mostly azalea and rhododendrons, with specimens companion shrubs such as the Chilean Fire Bush which was smothered in crimson clusters of narrow honeysuckle-like blooms on a columnar tree.
The red candelabra primulas were stunning among the wild flowers which complemented the scale and pallet of reds, oranges, peaches, pinks, whites and creams (with a few purples) of the flowering shrubs. I shared a photo of me standing in front of a shrub and comment returned “looks like a scene from ‘Honey I shrank the kids’. “They are vast. What is also fabulous is that there isn’t a long treck in order to appreciate the spectacle, AND the terrain is very safe under foot. Any ascending paths are gentle zig zags, and the slope up to the Roman ruin site is pretty manageable to most bar those who struggle with their mobility.
I imagine that the selection of other specimen trees will bring equal pleasure as an autumn spectacle too. We truly enjoyed our visit!
