Country house full of interesting paintings and excessive family photographs

点评：Great location in the lovely village of Melbourne, despite shopping here for over 20years, i had never been into the hall of gardens, after reading the newsletter a friend and i decided to visit.
It was a very sunny afternoon, so a walk around the garden came first as the hall is not open until 2pm.
The gardens are very extensive, masses of neatly kept lawned areas, 3 impressive pools with fountains all in line with the front of the house. Unfortuantely despite many interesting shrubs, and lovely stream not much colour anywhere. When buying the tickets at £10 per person, it would be a nice gesture to have a map of the gardens (i see today there is one of the website) many people wandering around on this lovely sunny day. Unfortunately the lady selling the garden tickets did not tell us when the hall was open, so we had to hang around for 2pm. The walk by Melbourne pool is lovely with many bench seats to sit and watch the world go by, masses of ducks everywhere enjoying the water
We managed to buy 2 tickets at £6 per person to join the guided tour of the hall, actually just a few rooms downstiars. inside the hall there is very little to see,some of the rooms are very small, but the huge paintings were of interest, the furniture really quite randam, but the amount of family photo;s crammed on any service was rather strange and excessive
The main problem is the parking: there are spaces beside the church and rear of the hall, but all are full, if new to the area you have to keep driving around to find a spot
