点评:The "tour" is not what's described on the website. You're not going to be milking any cows, seeing them being milked, or visiting their barns - those areas are "employees only." You can look in from a distance. And you get a button that says you milked a cow - which you did not actually do.
Really this is a big gift shop attached to a small dairy operation. You'll see the filling area and pasteurization area which are more interesting than the owner makes them out to be. And you'll see a bunch of cows lining up to be milked, along with a few rabbits and baby animals in cages. That's it. Then you'll get a bunch of flavored milks which are basically milk plus sugar plus color and flavor additives produced by some chemical company in New Jersey.
Look, I think it's great that Mr Shatto runs these tours and personally contributes to them. He hints at how hard it is to run a dairy and I'm sympathetic to that. But the tours seem to be little more than advertising for Shatto's milk products. Shatto isn't trying to promote anything organic, regenerative, free-range, or anything else that appeals to east-coast types who can't tell a cow from a goat.
To that end, the crowd of locals seemed to love the brightly colored, sugar-added "milks" that taste like sherbet or banana candy -- because such products basically are candy. But the "lowest common denominator" experience left me feeling happy we didn't make too much of a detour to come.
