点评:One can easily reach the Breakwater by foot by following the eastern side of Victoria’s harbor. Along the way you may want to stop and visit Fisherman’s Wharf—a delightful house boat community with cafés. Having a car will get you there faster. Park along Dallas Road.
Building Victoria’s breakwater—known as Ogden’s Point area-- was actually started in 1914 and was completed by 1917. World War I did not stop them from completing this important project. With cement, stone and mortar this breakwater would stretch out to 2500 feet (762m).
At the end of the breakwater is a small uninhabited lighthouse. A pleasing walk can be had on a nice day. Usually it is windy, but the waves are not too obtrusive. The point does make for superb photographs.
You may be lucky enough to watch cruise ships coming to dock or a pilot boat coming near the breakwater. A few times during the day is MV Coho, the ship that goes back and forth from Port Angeles. There is also a high-speed ferry from Seattle that comes through the harbor.
If you are in the mood, close by is the iconic Breakwater Bistro Bar located at the beginning of the breakwater path.
