Birthday party a little disappointing but whisky excellent

点评：I went to the distillery's 18th birthday 'do' which I have to say was a little disappointing. There were very few stalls, only a bar gazebo, a coffee van, a pizza van and another food van. No craft or other product types of stalls. The advertised medieval event appeared to be limited to using foam swords, shields and head guards for a go at sword fighting. I had a quick 1/2 hour tour of the distillery, a look around their shop, a beer from the bar stall and then lunch in their cafe. Lunch was very nice.
I love their whisky (hence why I travelled up from the south coast for this) and bought 2 bottles whilst I was there, however I didn't see many samples to try before buying.
I was staying in a lovely B&B (The Elms) in East Harling. The owner gave me a lift there as I didn't want to drive. I was hoping to have a few tipples then get a taxi back. Beware, taxis are like hens teeth - almost non existent. At 12:30 I called the local taxi firm only to be told the only taxi available was 18:00 that night. Uber are not operating there, I ended up having to walk back.
As a suggestion it may be worth while the distillery laying on the availability of a car to act as a local lift (fee paying) for those wishing to visit the distillery, sample their product, but not wanting to drive.
The staff at the distillery were really friendly. If you are in the area (and have a designated driver) I would recommend a visit.
Maybe I expected too much from the birthday event.
