Lush green, not the best ethics
Ranomafana National Park的点评
点评:We were super excited for our 5 hours walk in the park. The nature is great, however what can make your walk is a good guide so please do your research beforehand (unlike us). Every guide uses an animal spotter. Our spotter was actually good and helped us to get to places where we could see the animals as clearly as possible. Our guide Jimmy came across as lazy though, once we were shown lemurs, it felt like his job was done, whereas so much more could be explained to us about other plants and insects in the forest. He didn't volunteer information unless asked. There was one animal spotted who got some fresh bamboo shoots to encourage one lemur to come down on the path for photos - we were not keen on this behaviour. We were in Ranomafana 2 days and it rained all the time so bring waterproofs and good walking shoes, you will slide in running trainers. We also did a nightwalk which was definitely ethically questionable. The guides put banana on the branches near the trees to get the mouse lemur to come out and then shine torches in its eyes, this was repeated until everyone took photos. I don't think I would bother with it again as I don't suport these practises where animals are being fed for tourists entertainment and it removes their natural instincts. This is the only park in Madagascar where we saw guides feeding lemurs, and it was surprising as it is a park with an actual dedicated research centre, but clearly not all people working for the park are nature lovers.
If I was doing it again, I would spend extra time and gone to primary forest, pick guides more carefully, and visited the research centre which does talks to learn about ongoing projects.

如果我再来一次,我会多花些时间,去原始森林,更仔细地挑选导游,并参观研究中心,那里会举办讲座,了解正在进行的项目。
