点评：The Chicago Lakefront Trail, often described as the best way to see Chicago and its spectacular skyline, is an 18.5-mile paved path that stretches along the western shore of Lake Michigan and DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, from Ardmore Avenue to the north to 71st Street to the south, from Edgewater to Hyde Park, offering walking, jogging, biking, skateboarding and rollerblading opportunities to one and all. Most noteworthy rest stops along the way are Oak Street Beach, North Avenue Beach, Montrose Beach and Osterman Beach. My favorite spot is near my home, from North Avenue Beach looking south, for an iconic view of Lake Point Tower and the Hancock Building and downtown Chicago. As you go south, you pass Navy Pier and Millennium Park and Buckingham Fountain and the Museum Campus featuring the Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. Next stop? Soldier Field. Later, at 55th Street, the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. Lesser known attractions are the Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, at the end of a peninsula at Montrose Beach that is home to 50 or 60 species, the Park Bait Shop at Montrose Harbor that dates to the 1930s and remains a go-to destination for local fishermen, the Gold Star Families Memorial that commemorates Chicago police officers killed in the line of duty, located between Soldier Field and Northerly Island, the Burnham Centennial Prairie, south of McCormick Place, the nation's largest convention center, and the 96-foot-tall column that marks the site of the Stephen A. Douglas Tomb at 35th street. Remember Douglas? He was the most famous politician in the country until he met Abraham Lincoln in a series of seven debates in 1858 that vaulted Lincoln to the presidency of the United States.
