Nice walk, shame about the cafe.

点评：We met up with family for a walk. While the walk was pleasant enough we stopped at the cafe for a warm drink afterwards and it wasn’t a great experience. The cafe closed at 4 but as we were only ordering drinks we thought it would be fine as it was just before 3:30. I ordered a coffee for me and my sister and as they had dog ice creams advertised thought we’d treat the dogs to keep them occupied while we drank our drinks. Service was quick but when the dog ice creams were delivered they were not frozen. When my sister took them back to the counter the waitress that served us told us that the freezer wasn’t on so everything in there wasn’t frozen. She offered to swap these for some dog treats which my sister accepted but when she got back to the table this was only a few cheap dog biscuits that you can buy a whole box for a couple of pound. I’d paid £2.50 for each ice cream so I was a bit cross that this was offered rather than a full refund, especially as they knew the freezer wasn’t on. This wasn’t the best start but things got worse when they started putting up all the chairs on the tables around us (which hadn’t been cleaned as they were still covered in crumbs). Next the bins were hauled out from around the back of the counter and emptied next to where we were sat. Then a member of staff walked through the seating area with a bin bag on their hand and something I presume had been pulled out of a toilet held at arms length in another bin bag and took it to the outside bin. We felt pressured to rush our drinks and get out so they could close. We left the cafe at 3:50 so still well within their their opening hours but I don’t think we will be returning anytime soon. We’ll find somewhere else to stop for a drink in future.
