Cheapest Tahitian Pearls in French Polynesia!

点评：My uncle and I visited French Polynesia for the 2nd time in February 2025, after a hiatus of 5 years. Mihiarii Pearls still has 2 stores; the flagship store is located on the same street as the municipal market, around 3 blocks down the street, and the branch is located on the 1st floor of the municipal market. 5 years ago, we had visited both stores and this time round, we did the same.
We discovered that their pearl collection has shrunk considerably since 5 years ago, especially in the flagship store. I bought 3 large carved pearls(15mm) for USD80 each, from the branch store and asked for my pearls to be strung onto a male-style necklace. They charge USD10 for the stringing service and the leather string. I collected my completed necklace after 1 hour. The branch store still has a collection of premium quality large pearls which retail for between USD1000 to USD5000 each, but the collection has dwindled noticeably since 5 years ago. Here, they have Tahitian pearls that range from USD10 to USD80, per pearl, in several buckets for customers to select.
The flagship store used to be bustling with local customers picking out loose pearls for necklaces 5 years ago, but when we walked into the store this time, we were the only customers there and there were only 2 sales persons in the entire store, whereas there were over 10 sales persons here 5 years ago. The loose pearl collection here has also dwindled drastically; they used to have buckets and buckets of loose pearls with a variety of grades and sizes for customers to select. Today, they have only a handful of buckets of pearls for sale. The Covid-19 pandemic has hit them really hard.
