Harwich Redoubt Fort的点评
点评：I visited the Redoubt on the 28th August 2025 and it was a great experience that exceeded my expectations. The couple who run the site were particularly helpful and deserve a special mention for their kindness towards my mother who was unable to explore the lower level. It rained whilst we were there and the lady at the ticket office loaned her a raincoat and looked after her whilst I wandered around.
The Redoubt gives a fascinating insight into our sea defences from 1810 and has many rooms filled with military memorabilia that tell the story of the Redoubt from its beginnings until it closed just after the 2nd World War.
The entrance road is quite narrow but you can drive up to the Redoubt where there's a small (free) car park.
There's a charge to enter the Redoubt which is very reasonable and helps towards the cost of the upkeep of the building.
We took the site in as part of our little exploration of Harwich. There's also a small museum in the town that gives you a good understanding of the importance of this port throughout its history.
