点评:I was a witness (4th May) of how the Thomas the train engine driver unfairly treated an 8 year old girl with special needs and her family.
The mother approached the driver and asked if she can jump the queue as her daughter was over stimulated waiting at the queue to board the train.
The driver failed to be sympathetic with the situation and instead his response was that she needed to wait like everyone else and he even went on to say that he doesn't think the ride might be suitable for the girl.
People waiting at the front of the queue and saw what happened allowed the mother to go at the front and get on the train and when the driver saw her he told them to get off the train. The mother mentioned that she was allowed by the people in front of her and once he saw that everyone was commenting on the situation he accepted.
All this was unnecessary on his part as he showed no compassion and actually made the mother feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed.
I was very upset as a mother of an autistic child I know how hard it is to deal with people who do not understand the difficulties and challenges that autistic children have.
I would like to mention that the girl was good as gold while she was on the train ride and the operator of this service should rethink of how they treat their customers.
When the ride finished I spoke to the driver and complained to him. His response was not caring I even suggested that for children with special needs it might be better to get a special queue to book online or maybe on the day. This way it removes the stress the child is put under having to wait in the queue.
And his response was that the company does not have any policy on this so please I hope this gets escalated to the right person and when I return myself or anyone else does not have to experience this terrible situation again.
